Current Work
I work on conversational and multimodal Web interaction. See
this
5 minute interview for a quick overview. Here are a number
of standards activities and projects that I am presently
involved in:
- W3C XForms W3C
XForms ---next-generation XML powered Web forms--- is an
update to HTML forms technology to better leverage the
strengths of XML.
- XML Events
The XML Events module defined in this specification provides
XML languages with the ability to uniformly integrate event
listeners and associated event handlers with Document Object
Model (DOM) Level 2 event interfaces [ DOM2EVENTS
]. The result is to provide an interoperable way of
associating behaviors with document-level markup.
-
XHTML+Voice Enables the creation of multimodal Web
content by integrating XHTML and VoiceXML via XHTML 1.1
modularization. This is an update to W3C Note XHTML+Voice 1.0
.
I also work on more general issues of Web accessibility to
ensure that future Web technologies are created
accessible. You can find details of my prior work at
my personal Web
site. You can read an article profiling some of my work
entitled
Engineer's focus: accessible technology for all
published by the San Jose Mercury News,July 2, 2003.
